Arise and Go!

Arise and Go!

April 2024 - Brenda H. Price

In the book of Joshua Chapter 1, God reminds Joshua that Moses is dead, now therefore arise. It’s time to move on. In other words, there is no need to keep dwelling on the past. What’s gone is gone! Joshua loved Moses and served as his Minister. Therefore, he had every right to mourn the death of Moses. Yet, God did not want him to camp out in a place of grief, and mourning. God charges him to Arise!

When looking up the definition of the word Arise – it means to begin to occur or exist. To come into being. To get up or stand up! To move upward. To seek to attain or accomplish a particular goal.

If we take a close look at our lives, perhaps we will find that we are somewhat like Joshua. Stuck in a place of dwelling on the past: past hurts, past rejections, past loses of loved ones. Yes, it is definitely painful to lose someone we love, and to suffer hurts and rejections. Yet, like Joshua, God does not want us to stay in this place of despair, living a life a disorder and stagnation.

It's important to know that Joshua was not called to go after something he had to get for himself. God called him to get up and go after a promise HE had already given to him. There are promises of God that He has already given to those who love him and are called according to His purpose and plan for our lives. All we have to do is Arise! And Go!

Arise! – Get up from our place of slumber, sleep, disarray, and disorder.

Go! – Go after the promises that God has already given, prepared and set aside just for YOU! So ARISE and GO! Get busy doing the work of Jesus Christ!
